Glomar was founded in 1991 by two Cuban refugees, Juan Faxas and Mario Valdez, and Miles Ross. Faxas learned the craft of woodworking but did not use these skills while he lived in Cuba. The first bats were created in Faxas' garage, but the company now operates a 3,800 square foot facility in Fullerton, California which was opened in 1993. Between 50 and 100 players have used Glomar bats since 1993, including Red Sox players such as Mo Vaughn and Jose Canseco.
